The history of Novavenda dates back to 1942, when the founding family began its operations as a food wholesaler in the province of Girona, with the aim of offering high-quality products to its customers.

Novavenda moved to Plaça del Lleó in Girona [Plaça Calvet i Rubalcaba], where it established its new headquarters with a retail shop. This new location allowed the brand to improve its commercial offer and make its products available to a wider audience. The move to a central location also allowed the brand to consolidate its presence in the market and improve its image.
As part of its commercial expansion strategy, Novavenda opened its first Cash & Carry, called Cash Girona, on Carrer d’Albacete in Girona. This new sales concept allowed the company to offer its products to a wider audience, both professional and private.
At Cash Girona, customers found a wide range of quality products at very competitive prices, with the convenience of being able to purchase them all in one place. This wholesale model also allowed customers to buy large quantities of products and benefit from discounts.
The company moved to Vilablareix to set up its first 1,200 m2 warehouse, where it expanded its wholesale food operations. This initial step allowed the company to establish a solid foundation for its growth and development in the food sector.
Novavenda went one step further and began franchising, becoming the first food distribution franchise chain in Catalonia. This strategy allowed the brand to expand in the region and consolidate its position as one of the leading food wholesalers in the area. As a result, the company expanded its warehouse in Vilablareix to 3,600 m2.
The company relocated its headquarters to Fornells de la Selva, where the central warehouse is currently located. This move was an important step in the company’s development, allowing it to increase its storage capacity and stock of products.
Novavenda computerised all warehouse controls enabling efficient stock management through cutting-edge technology that streamlines product handling and improves inventory management. This resulted in greater efficiency in the supply chain and quicker response to customer needs.
Today, Novavenda has become a benchmark for the food distribution sector in the Girona region, while retaining its lifelong spirit: being a family business with 100% Catalan capital, working to bring its customers the best possible quality and service.
